We have more than 20 years of experience in paediatric dentistry and are supported by a team comprising of Practice Managers, Dental Therapists/Hygienists, Clinical Assistants, Front Office Coordinators, Recovery Nurses, as well as a panel of SPECIALIST ANAESTHETISTS. Many of our anaesthetists have been with the practice for more than 12 years, with several having been with us for more than 20 years. Importantly, we have more than 20 years of a safe and excellent track record.
Dr P.Y. LAI
Dr P.Y. is the only dual trained Brisbane specialist in the specialty of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. He is therefore able to diagnose, manage and treat your child in the best possible way. This is particularly important if a decision needs to be made on the spot when proceeding with treatment under general anaesthetics. Despite all the preparations and treatment planning prior to surgery, many situations may arise where the specialised skills of both a paediatric dentist and an orthodontist are called for. In addition to many years of dedicated children dental care, Dr P.Y. is actively involved in teaching and lecturing, and every year travels overseas to update his knowledge in the fields of orthodontics and paediatric dentistry.
Dr WAYNE KAN
This year we are pleased to have Dr Wayne Kan to join our team. He is also a specialist paediatric dentist with many years of experience in the oral health care of children and adolescents.
Dr Kan obtained both of his undergraduate and postgraduate dental degrees (BDSc and DClinDent) through the University of Queensland. He completed his clinical doctorate with specialisation in the field of paediatric dentistry in 2008. His doctoral thesis won him the prestigious Colgate Student Travel Award to present at the annual conference held by International Association for Dental Research in 2009. His research also was published in the world’s top paediatric dental journal the following year.
As a registered specialist paediatric dentist, Dr Kan has practised in both Australia and overseas. Following his service at Kingston Oral Health Centre, part of Queensland’s largest government dental practice for children’s oral health care, Wayne furthered his professional experience in Taiwan, working as a lecturer and clinical consultant at China Medical University Hospital, one of the local top-ranked universities. In addition to his role at the hospital, he also worked as a specialist in private practice until his return to Brisbane this year.
